Personal History
Angel of the Abyss
Apollyon is liberated from The Knife, a high-security detention unit in the Northwest Territories, by agents of the Aurora Dawn cult led by Whisper. Upon her release, she is presented with the stolen Breach Key, an artifact she originally used to open the Rift twenty years prior. Rejecting the cult’s desire to serve alien masters, Apollyon declares the key is a source of ancient power rather than a communication device. She uses the artifact to execute the members of Aurora Dawn with a blast of purple energy, sparing only Whisper, and declares her intent to conquer the world.
In Istanbul, Apollyon meets with a Ukrainian military envoy, General Guskov, offering to use the Breach Key to grant Ukraine energy independence. During a demonstration at Istanbul Park, she activates the key, unleashing Rift energy that causes catastrophic damage and reveals the presence of Lance Valiant. Recognizing Lance as a being of similar ancient origin, she orders his capture. When her forces are unable to secure him, she kidnaps his teammate, John Cabot, whom she refers to as Lance’s "dog." She retreats to the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone in Pripyat, where she repurposes a "Doblestnyy engine" to channel the "Ur-Power" from the Rift, eventually murdering General Guskov when he becomes a liability.
Inside the Rift at the Spire of Avesh, Apollyon confronts Lance and reveals their shared heritage as descendants of an ancient race of gods. She attempts to recruit him, claiming the world is theirs by right of inheritance and that the Spire is a font of the primal force that once empowered their kind. Lance rejects her offer and destroys the Spire, stripping Apollyon of her power. Following the collapse of the Rift, her unconscious body is recovered by Lance and handed over to Dr. Cape of P.A.C.T. She is ultimately returned to her original cell at The Knife, though her eyes continue to exhibit the purple shimmer of the Rift energy.
Lost Histories
Apollyon appears briefly as a projection in the Enclave's Observatory. While Freelance and Noah Miki are searching for Sabre, she senses them searching through the Rift. Apollyon asks Lance if he's there to reconsider her offer, before being whisked away by Noah.
